“What has impressed me most over the time I have worked with Houshang is his continual commitment to building and developing young Canadian talent within the sport of cycling.”- Svein Tuft
Located in Victoria, British Columbia, the Pacific Cycling Centre has many advantages. Its moderate climate allows for uninterrupted, year-round riding. It has good roads, with varied terrain and little traffic compared to Canada’s more densely populated urban centres.
Victoria is the only community in Canada with a velodrome, a world-class BMX track and excellent off-road mountain biking trails that can be ridden year-round. In short, our cycling center has all of the amenities and terrain needed for any triathlon, Xterra, or cycling program. Because of its facilities and great weather, Victoria has become home to many World Class athletes. In cycling Victoria athletes have earned two World championship titles in MTB team relay, a bronze medal, two Elite World Championships in cross country mountain biking (XCO) and a bronze in Elite U23. Plus we have over 90 podium performances in road, track and MTB, at National championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Pan Am Games.
PCC and Canadian Sports Centre Pacific (CSC-P) have cooperated to develop state-of-the art testing equipment and a world-class performance laboratory, currently located at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) in Victoria. The Centre has access to an array of sports medicine expertise and sport science resources through the CSC-P.
PCC has created the most successful training environment in Canada and has earned the steady support of the community and corporate sponsors such as Action Motorcycles. The Pacific Cycling Centre in Victoria (PCC) was set up to optimize the training of Canada’s National Cycling Team. The Centre works closely with the high performance program at PacificSport, with National Team Athletes and with programs for both junior and masters athletes.
The Pacific Cycling Centre Program works with athletes in all level of the Long-term Athlete Development Model.
The program optimizes training to prepare athletes to compete at the highest level of international competition as well as local and national championships.
